Announcing: My Book – Strange Currencies
It’s obvious to anyone who has frequented this site over the years that the last few months have seen a decrease in the number of new posts. The reason for this is a simple one; I’ve been distracted. With what, you may ask? Well, I put out a book!
Considering this is a gaming/nerd blog, I debated even making this post. But, at the end of the day, this is a site about things that I’m passionate about. So, I suppose that can include ALL of my passions. Well, aside from gaming and retro nostalgia, another thing that I feel very passionate about is my former music career. I’ve mentioned it a few times on this site, but I usually just gloss over it because I never wanted to put the spotlight on me. But I suppose, since I’m mentioning my book, I need to address it.
Back in the 90s, when I was still in High School, I started a band. Then, once I became an adult, the band took the front seat. No, it’s not a band you’ve probably ever heard of. We were very much a local thing. But for several years, music was my whole world. During my time as a musician, I had lots of crazy adventures and learned a lot about life. Eventually, things settled down and I slipped into a more “normal” routine. But still, I often think back to those days and I decided that I wanted to share some of these stories and lessons with the world.
This book, Strange Currencies is a memoir. It’s a coming-of-age story that discusses the local music scene of my youth. It’s filled with fun anecdotes, but it also tells a heartfelt story. I think some of you might enjoy it.
I’ve been working on this book off-and-on for some time. But only recently did I start the process of putting it out there for everyone to see. The production and promotion of this book has taken up a lot of my free time these last few months. So, for those of you that look forward to my frequent gaming updates – this is what has been sucking away all of my attention.
Since this is a hobby blog, and not a site for self-promotion, I won’t be posting about this again. However, for those of you that might be interested in this sort of thing, I’ve included some links below.
