I really need to do better about writing these record shop posts. I don’t make them nearly as often as I originally intended. It’s been almost six years since I wrote about the first Stone Temple Pilots album, Core. To say that Core was an influential record for me, is not doing it justice. There’s…
I don’t make these Record Shop posts as often as I should. But the last two albums that I talked about I introduced as two of my favorite records of all time. Well, I’m about to do that yet again for a third time with August & Everything After by Counting Crows. Counting Crows is…
The Gin Blossoms are one of those bands that everyone has heard of, but not enough people pay attention to. Their major label debut, New Miserable Experience is one of my all-time favorite records. I know that I said the same thing about Blind Melon’s first album in my last Record Shop post. But, that…
Today I’m going to discuss one of my favorite rock albums of all time, Blind Melon. If you’ve been following my Record Shop posts over the years, you might be surprised to learn that I hold this record in such high regard. And I do – seriously. In fact, calling this one of my favorite…
My last several Record Shop reviews have been for albums by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This post is no exception. However, this will be the last RHCP review for a little while. With the discussion of this record, I have now caught up to my original review of Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The general…
I’ve always been a creature of habit. Once I take an interest in something, I like to deep-dive into the topic. My introduction to the Red Hot Chili Peppers was no different. It wasn’t long after I was introduced to their Blood Sugar Sex Magik album, that I started to collect all of their previous…
The last time I wrote one of these Record Shop articles, I talked about the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ debut album. In this post, I’ve decided to stick with the trend and take a look at their sophomore release, Freaky Styley. If you’re familiar with the RHCP, you’ll know that their early music sounds nothing…
I know I don’t make these posts often enough. These days, it’s difficult to find the time to sit down and actually enjoy an album from beginning to end. But whenever the occasion arises, I always do my best to take advantage of it. When it comes to these posts, I’ve covered albums by a…
I know, it’s been a while since I’ve made a Record Shop post. And there’s really no excuse. These articles probably take less time to write than any. But, before sitting down to write a track-by-track review for an album, I really like to spend a few days revisiting it. Thankfully, my new job affords…
Even though I don’t post them as much as I’d like, my Record Shop articles are part of an ongoing series. Of the seven Record Shop posts made thus far, three of them have been for Nirvana albums. As a young musician, Nirvana was undeniably a huge source of inspiration. At the height of their…
